COBRA KAI Series Creators Reveal if Daniel and Johnny Will Ever Fight Each Other
The first season of Cobra Kai was so freakin' good. The way that the rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) escalated over the course of the story was so well done. They almost ended up fighting each other at one point, but it didn't happen.
With the series getting picked up for a second season, I wondered if we would eventually see these two characters fight each other again to settle their differences. During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald talked about the series, and when asked if we would eventually see Daniel and Johnny fight, Hurwitz said:
"It feels like that's the ultimate destiny for these characters at this point, is to, at some point, come to that head. It's just a matter of when, and if, it's actually going to happen. But that feels like that's in the ether."
So, it's eventually going to happen! We just don't know how, when, or where it's going to happen. When talking about the idea of two grown men fighting each other, Hurwitz goes on to say:
"[Well], they are, at the same time, adults. [laughs] But you could, you know, even as an adult, people can relate to being brought back to that high school level. And I think that throughout the show, there's the potential for that to happen at any point."
The end of the first season set up a very interesting direction to take Season 2 and it will be fun to see how the story and characters evolve as it presses forward. Daniel was preparing to train Robby at his dojo. Daniel's daughter, Samantha is going to be getting back into the sport, and Johnny's dodo is filled with a few Cobra Kai bullies. Then there was one big surprise at the very end that I won't talk about right now in case you haven't seen it.
But, one aspect of the story is definitely leading to Daniel and Johnny fighting and I can't wait to see how that plays out!
