COBRA KAI Star William Zabka Teases That Amid Season 3 Fan Theories, 'Nothing Is As It Seems'
Fans have been ever so patient for the upcoming third season of the hit series Cobra Kai. The first two seasons of the show premiered on the series’ former streaming home, YouTube, and the third season finished filming before the pandemic, but between changing from YouTube to Netflix and the pandemic setbacks, we are still waiting to see the third season of the show! It’s been a difficult wait as the end of Season 2 was a devastating blow to the characters and story. We can’t wait to get back in there and pick up the pieces in the aftermath.
In a recent interview with CB, Cobra Kai and original Karate Kid star William Zabka talked about how he believed the series was full of surprises, and even teased that the third season is like the first two combined, and on steroids. Here’s the full quote:
Well, I could tell you this much. I mean, the end of Season 2 is a car wreck essentially. There's a lot of pieces to put back together. There's a lot of healing that has to happen. There's a lot of growing that needs to happen. I've seen a lot of fan theories out there, and heard a lot of fan theories. Nice tries. It's awesome. I mean, Season 3 is fireworks. And I think it's Season 1 and 2 combined on steroids. And it was a blast to shoot and it's gonna be worth the wait. It's hard. We were hoping it would be out before now too, but the world is what it is right now, and we're so happy to be at a great home like Netflix. And for our fans that have already seen the show to watch it and watch it again, and the new fans to come on board. There's a lot of work to get Season 3 ready. It's getting translated for 30 countries and all that stuff.
As for the rumors that the characters Ali (Elisabeth Shue) from The Karate Kid or Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) from The Karate Kid Part II may be returning to their roles in the upcoming season, nothing has been confirmed. But Zabka commented on the possibility of Johnny seeing Ali again:
Listen, for the character of Johnny, Ali, I've been saying this for the last two seasons, she's a big missing piece of his life. She's the love that got away and in some form would love to reconnect. But the show is full of surprises.
He reiterated that the third season will be a total blast for the fans, saying:
Season 3 is gonna be worth the wait. It's going to deliver in a great way, on all fronts. Be some surprises, there's things you expect that aren't going to happen, but that's on purpose. I mean, you couldn't figure it out. You know, if you watch "Cobra Kai" from Episode 1 to the end of Season 2, you couldn't have tracked that. It's like it took so many, all that happens with Kreese, it's all surprising. It's just great writing.
Dude, I know. I didn’t have to get sold any more on the series, but here we are, and I am even more pumped than before! I am a little bitter that we still have to wait until 2021 to see the show, but it’s just one more reason to be stoked to see 2020 in the rear view.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Cobra Kai are available now on Netflix. Do you have any guesses as to what surprises we can look forward to in the third season of the series?
