Colin Farrell in Negotiations to Play the Penguin in THE BATMAN

Right after news broke that Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred in The Batman, a report popped up from Deadline saying that Collin Farrell (Dumbo, Fantastic Beasts) is in negotiations to take on the role of The Penguin, who is said to be the main villain in the story.

If everything works out, Farrell will join Robert Pattinson as Batman, Paul Dano (Prisoners, Love & Mercy as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies, Divergent, X-Men) as Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) Commissioner James Gordon. Jonah Hill was previously up for the role of Penguin, but he ended up bowing out.

This wouldn’t be the first comic book villain that Farrell has played. Remember, he also played Bullseye in Ben Affleck’s Daredevil movie.

Farrell is definitely a surprising and unexpected choice for The Penguin. It’s outside of the box casting, and I kinda dig it! There’s been some impressive casting for this movie, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

The Batman will be a noir style film that will lean into Batman as a detective. It’s scheduled to hit theaters June 25th, 2021.

What do you think about Farrell taking on the role of Penguin?
