Comic Writer Mark Millar Says Taron Egerton Will Be the Next Wolverine

We all know that one day Marvel Studios will introduce the X-Men into the MCU and with that comes the recasting for all of the characters, including Wolverine. Hugh Jackman awesomely played Wolverine for years, but we will eventually see another actor take on the role, and according to comic book writer Mark Millar, that actor will be Taron Egerton (Kingsmen, Rocketman).

A fan recently took to Twitter to point out that Millar "predicted the future" of the MCU in a comic panel from 2002. That panel featured a version of Nick Fury modeled after Samuel L. Jackson, and it also happened to drop the name of future Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr.

Millar responded to the tweet saying "remember, I'm never wrong," and then went on to predict that Taron Egerton will be the next Wolverine.

This is the first time that actor has been linked to Wolverine. There has been rumors and speculation about the actor being up for Wolverine, and when previously asked about those rumors in an interview with Heart Breakfast, he said:

“That one I think is just a rumor. As far as I’m aware it’s unfounded. I don’t know if I’m quite grisly enough. I mean if the people at Marvel think I am, then great, let’s go. But I think there are probably better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere.”

While Egerton is a solid actor, I agree with him… he’s not grisly enough to take on the role. It’s hard to imagine him in the role. He just doesn’t have the physical Wolverine build. But, who knows what Marvel will do when they are finally ready to play with the character! They’ve always announced surprising and unexpected casting choices for their characters and that is sure to happen with Wolverine, but would you want that actor to be Egerton?
