Coming Back to EXOPRIMAL For Season 3: New Monsters, Maps, Exosuits, and More
When Exoprimal released last year it received fairly mixed reviews and the game lacked some depth and variety. While the game’s core issues aren’t really fixed in this season, there is a lot more to play around with, many hours of grinding to be done, and some relatively new experiences that make it worthwhile to jump back in.
Exoprimal is a team based co-op shooter where players work with a team to take down hundreds of dinosaurs that rain from the sky with loads of guns, explosives, lasers, and melee weapons. It is loads of fun and totally ridiculous, but Exoprimal revels and leans into the wild nature of the game. The progression of the exosuits that players control and the various things players can unlock make for rewarding play sessions every time you pick up the game. The major (if only) issue is that there is only one game mode which a player jumps into and plays again and again to progress online stats, story, and player rewards. This can get super repetitive, but at least the moment to moment gameplay is quite entertaining. Overall, it is loads of fun, but after unlocking lots of things and playing through the “story,” there isn’t much to do.
That brings us to Season 3. This season is filled with a lot more than just cool cosmetics. New monsters have been added, new encounters, and some serious surprises. We also get a new location and new modules to spice up and shake up the gameplay. Lastly, the biggest addition to the game are the four β variant exosuits. While more would be great, leveling up and getting to know four new variants is fun enough for now.
The season also brings Monster Hunter into the mix. A lot of the cosmetics in this season are based around Monster Hunter, which can be wild and odd, almost to the point of not fitting in thematically. However, the skins are well designed and worth the season pass price. Also, one of the most iconic monsters, Rathalos, appears in the game and is a thrill to fight.
While this game might not have much variety when it comes to gameplay, the progression system is rewarding and deep enough to keep players engaged. Season 3 is a great time to hop in and enjoy a wonderfully incorporated crossover with a bunch of new content including new enemies, new exosuits, and new ways to play.
