Compelling Trailer for Netflix's Limited Series Adaptation of EAST OF EDEN Starring Florence Pugh

Netflix has released a trailer for their limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel, East of Eden, previously released as a 1955 film featuring James Dean.

This time around, the series stars Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist, along with Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Ciarán Hinds, Martha Plimpton, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders.

The show was developed by Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks, Wildlife), who co-showruns the series with Jeb Stuart.

The synopsis reads: “In Zoe Kazan's adaptation of John Steinbeck’s masterpiece, Pugh plays the indelible antihero Cathy Ames, whose life is intertwined with the lives of generations of men from the Trask family — notably those of Adam (Christopher Abbott) and Charles (Mike Faist) — as the characters live out the darker side of the California dream.

“But why does Cathy desire to disappear? "Because," she intones, ‘the world is so full of evil.’ The choice between good & evil is at the heart of this fresh interpretation of Steinbeck's 1952 novel.”

This looks well done, and I’m a fan of Florence Pugh and Zoe Kazan, as well as Steinbeck, so I am hopeful this remake tells an intriguing version of the story.

Check out the trailer below, and watch East of Eden when it comes to Netflix this Fall.
