Conan O'Brien and Seth Meyers Pay Tribute to Comedian Garry Shandling, Who Died Yesterday at Age 66
Yesterday, the comedy world suffered a great loss with the death of writer/performer Garry Shandling, star of It's Garry Shandling's Show and The Larry Sanders Show. I haven't seen much of his work yet myself, but Shandling had an absolutely massive influence on tons of modern comedians and people working in the comedy industry today. (Those unfamiliar with him may recognize him as Senator Stern from the Marvel movies.)
One of the people he had a huge impact on is Conan O'Brien, and on last night's show, Conan paid tribute to the man by telling a story about how Shandling helped him out during a rough period in his life. Seth Meyers also paid tribute to him during his own show last night, and you can catch those tributes below.
It's sad that it's taken Shandling's death to finally spur me on to seek out his work, but he'll live on every time something he did makes someone laugh in the years to come. Rest in peace.
