Concept Art For The Oracle in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER and Deleted Scene Details
Some unused concept art from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has surfaced showing off an alien character that was cut from the film named The Oracle. StarWars.com also shared an excerpt from the upcoming novelization of the film that reveals how the scene with The Oracle would have played out in the film had it not been cut.
In an earlier cut of the film, during the opening scene when Kylo Ren is killing off hooded alien creatures on a scorched planet, it would have been revealed that this was the planet Mustafa. Mustafa is where Darth Vader once lived in his dark castle. This is where Kylo finds the Wayfinder, which is the object that reveals the location of Emperor Palpatine.
It’s on this planet where Kylo was originally supposed to meet an alien creature named The Oracle. In the novel, it’s revealed the actual name of the creature is The Eye of Webbish Bog.
The scene begins with General Armitage Hux and Allegiant General Pryde watching Kylo tearing through the hooded Darth Vader cultists as he is looking for the Wayfinder. Kylo eventually finds himself walking through a torched forest with a squad of Stormtroopers. Those Stormtroopers decide not to follow Kylo into the forest, but he presses on because he senses something. The Novel reads:
"The trees broke open onto a small lake with brackish water, bordered on all sides by forest and large black lumps like boulders, jutting out of the ground at odd angles. No, not boulders, he noted upon closer look, but rather fallen remnants of Darth Vader’s castle."
The Eye of Webbish Bog rises from that lake and it’s described as a "hairless creature sheening with wetness, bits of lake detritus clinging to its pasty skin.” It greets Kylo and it is the creature who actually ends up giving him the Wayfinder. You can read how all of that plays out here.
