Concept Art for Adam Goldberg's GOONIES Sequel Pitch

Not long ago, the creator of ABC’s nostalgia-fueled series The Goldbergs, Adam Goldberg, revealed that he has secretly been writing a script for a sequel to The Goonies. He even has a meeting set up with original director Richard Donnor to pitch his idea! Goldberg previously said:

"I rival Josh Gad as ultimate fan of The Goonies. For the last 9 years I’ve been secretly writing PART 2 for fun. It’s my masterpiece. I even had a big meeting scheduled with Richard Donner… canceled 'cause of the lockdown! THE GOONIES 2 WILL happen when life resumes. Promise.”

Well, some concept art was shared online that will be included in the pitch that Goldberg will make! The concept art comes from Michael Barnard, and it features a treasure map, a riddle, and an enormous set with a giant skull carved into a rock wall. It came with the following note:

Adam Goldberg, creator of @thegoldbergsabc, has written a script for the Goonies 2, featuring the original characters as adults! This is some artwork that was developed for the pitch he plans to give to Richard Donner.

Check it out below!

That engraving on the skull reads, “One mistake shall rain down fear/Feel the wrath of the Devil’s Tears.” I love this! I can’t wait to see where this ominous message leads in the story!

The Goonies fans have been wanting to see a sequel for years, and it’s been teased for years by the Donner, Spielberg, and members of the cast. Hopefully, this is it! Hopefully The Goonies II: Never Say Die ends up getting made!
