CONJURING Writers Chad and Carey Hayes to Make Directorial Debut With Thriller TRAIN, Frances O’Connor to Star

Chad and Carey Hayes, the sibling writing duo best known for creating The Conjuring, are stepping behind the camera for the first time with their directorial debut, Train. The thriller will star Frances O’Connor, who previously worked with the brothers on The Conjuring 2.

This new project marks an exciting reunion, as O’Connor memorably played Peggy Hodgson in The Conjuring 2. With The Conjuring franchise still holding the crown as the highest-grossing horror series in film history, seeing its original creators branch into directing feels like a natural next step.

Train is being produced by Blake Northfield and Michelle Krumm of Bronte Studios, the Australian company that recently premiered Beast of War at the Melbourne International Film Festival before screening at Fantastic Fest in Austin.

In a joint statement, the Hayes brothers shared their excitement about this next chapter: “We’re thrilled to be making our directorial debut with Train, in partnership with the incredible team at Bronte Studios.

“After years of writing, developing, and living inside the industry, we’re excited to finally put all that experience behind the camera. This story has everything we love about our genre and can’t wait to bring this one to life.”

Producers Northfield and Krumm also expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying: “The Hayes Brothers are known worldwide as the creators of some of the most successful horror films in history; now it’s their turn to direct.

“We are beyond thrilled to be producing their directorial debut and incredibly excited to have Frances O’Connor cast. We’re looking forward to introducing this film to the marketplace.”

O’Connor, who has built a diverse career with projects like The Missing and A.I. Artificial Intelligence, is a strong lead choice for the thriller, and her return to the Hayes’ world of supernatural storytelling should get horror fans excited.

Details on additional casting and production will be revealed soon, but Train is already shaping up to be one to watch for fans of modern horror.
