CONSTANTINE Director Francis Lawrence to Adapt Post-Apocalyptic Vampire Podcast IMAPACT WINTER for Netflix
Francis Lawrence, the filmmaker behind The Hunger Games franchise and Constantine, is heading into the realm of post-apocalyptic horror with Netflix. He’s set to adapt Impact Winter, the hit Audible Original podcast created by Pacific Rim writer Travis Beacham.
The story is described as 30 Days of Night meets The Last of Us, and it unfolds in a world thrown into chaos after a comet crashes into Earth, shrouding the planet in darkness.
With the sun blotted out, the balance of power shifts, and humans are no longer at the top of the food chain. Vampires, lurking in the shadows for centuries, finally rise. At the heart of the conflict are two sisters who find themselves on opposing sides of this war for survival.
Originally launched as an immersive, radio-style drama, Impact Winter has been a massive success, drawing nearly six million subscribers across its three seasons, with a fourth on the way.
The series is produced by Skybound and Anonymous Content, with Beacham, Lawrence, Cameron MacConomy, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller, Cliff Roberts, Bard Dorros, and Zack Hayden serving as executive producers.
Lawrence has made some great films over the course of his career and he has a talent for world-building on an epic scale. Impact Winter seems like it has all the makings of a gripping, cinematic, and nightmare series.
