CONVICTING A MURDERER Aims To Tell The Other Side Of Steven Avery's Case

While the world patiently waits for Season 2 of Making A Murderer, a new documentary has been made trying to tell the opposite side of Steven Avery's trial. The documentary, Convicting A Murderer, will present the perspective of law enforcement and prosecuting attorney Ken Kratz and claims it will lay out the stuff Making A Murderer excluded. Slashfilm said the documentary doesn't have a home at this time, although one would imagine Netflix would have some interest in picking it up.  

Documentary filmmaker Shawn Rech had this to say in a statement:

“When ‘Making A Murderer’ was produced, many on the law enforcement side of the story could not, or would not, participate in the series, which resulted in a one-sided analysis of the case…This docu-series will examine the case and the allegations of police wrongdoing from a broader perspective. It will also share with viewers the traumatic effects of being found guilty and vilified in the court of public opinion.

“We fight for the truth. We’ll present all of the evidence in the Avery case from the perspective of both the prosecution and the defense and see if viewers feel the same way they did two years ago following the first season of ‘Making A Murderer’.”

I'm interested in how this documentary will play out, but if you're trying to convince me the story concocted around Steven Avery's murder of Teresa Halbach is true, you're barking up the wrong tree. Do I think its possible Steven Avery murdered Halbach? Sure, but I think Making A Murderer more than proved that police used a ton of bad police work to try and get a crime to stick when they actually didn't know the full story behind the murder.
