Cool Concept Art For a Samurai Fantasy Film Made With Puppets Called THE HAUNTED SWORDSMAN
I've got some incredible concept art to share with you for a new supernatural samurai fantasy film being made called The Haunted Swordsman. On top of the beautiful art that was created for the film, you have to know that the movie is being made with puppets, which takes the whole project to a new level of awesomeness.
The Haunted Swordsman is “a live action samurai tale set in a world of demons and ghosts that will utilize 36-inch tall bunraku puppets, traditional in-camera effects, and good old-fashioned smoke and mirrors trickery.”
If that doesn't get you excited for this film project, I don't know what will. The movie is being developed by creature effects artist and model maker Kevin McTurk, and the concept art was done by Guy Davis, who previously worked on the Guillermo del Toro films such as Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak, and The Shape of Water.
The project currently is looking for funding on Kickstarter. You can check out more information on it here. I also included the Kickstarter video below. Thanks, to io9 for the heads up on this!
The first two images are described as being a “crawling Onibaba witch. She is the gatekeeper to the chamber of the Spirit Council.”
Next up is The Kurobozu (The Black Monk), "the elder judge of the Spirit Council that the Samurai must face.”
This photo shows us what the puppets look like with the puppeteers working on bringing them to life.
