Cool Home Video Footage From The Set of PLANET OF THE APES and Roddie McDowall Transforming Into Cornelius
Here’s some very cool behind-the-scenes video footage from the set of the 1968 sci-fi classic Planet of the Apes. This is home video footage from the late Roddy McDowall, who wanted to document parts of the three-hour process in which makeup artist Don Cash applied the makeup that transformed him into the character Cornelius in the film.
We see videos like this all the time these days in featurettes and social media posts. But back in the 60s, most people didn’t get to see stuff like this, so it’s awesome that some of these actors and filmmakers documented things on their own, and we get to enjoy it all these years later.
