Cool New Featurette For Netflix's Sci-Fi Series ALTERED CARBON Focuses on Building The World

Netflix has released a new featurette for their upcoming cyberpunk sci-fi series Altered Carbon, which is an adaptation of Richard Morgan’s 2002 novel. The story is set hundreds of years into a future where people's lives can be extended indefinitely with a new technology. This video offers a cool behind-the-scenes look at the series and it features cast and crew talking about the story and offering up some fascinating information on the backstory and building this world. It's pretty freakin' rad!

Consciousness can be digitized, human bodies are interchangeable and death is no longer permanent… Altered Carbon is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent. Takeshi Kovacs (Suicide Squad‘s Joel Kinnaman) is the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned, “on ice”, for centuries until Laurens Bancroftm (Hap and Leonard‘s James Purefoy), an impossibly wealthy, long-lived man, offers Kovacs the chance to live again. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder … that of Bancroft himself.

The series comes from writer and producer Laeta Kalogridis (Alita: Battle Angel, Shutter Island) and director Miguel Sapochnik (the “Battle of the Bastards” episode of Game of Thrones).  It's set to be released on Friday, February 2 on Netflix!
