Cool Teaser Poster for Alex Garland's Sci-Fi Film EX MACHINA
Alex Garland, the screenwriter of films such as Sunshine, 28 Days Later, Never Let me Go, and Dredd, has directed his first feature film that he also wrote. It's called Ex Machina, and it's a sci-fi thriller that stars Oscar Isaac and Domhall Gleeson. Today we have a great new teaser poster for you to check out below. The film is described as a stylish and cerebral thriller. Here's the synopsis for the seriously cool sounding film:
Caleb Smith (Gleeson), a programmer at an internet-‐search giant, wins a competition to spend a week at the private mountain estate of the company's brilliant and reclusive CEO, Nathan Bateman (Isaac). Upon his arrival, Caleb learns that Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—charging him with evaluating the capabilities, and ultimately the consciousness, of Nathan’s latest experiment in artificial intelligence. That experiment is Ava (Alicia Vikander), a breathtaking A.I. whose emotional intelligence proves more sophisticated, seductive––and more deceptive–– than the two men could have imagined.
I can't wait to see a trailer for this thing just to get a glimpse at what is actually in store for us. The film was just picked up for distribution by A24, and they are looking to release it on April 10th, 2015. The production company released a statement saying:
“Alex Garland is already one of the most brilliant and distinctive writers working today. Ex Machina marks the beginning of an exciting new step for Alex the director, and we are thrilled to help bring his provocative vision to US audiences."
There's no doubt that the script for this movie will be solid, the guy has written one great film after another. His directing skills have yet to be seen, but he has worked with the likes of Danny Boyle and Mark Romanek, so I'm sure he's learned a few things along the way. This has the potential to be a great flick.
