Cool Trailer for Netflix's Upcoming WWI-Set Anime Series LEVIATHAN

Netflix has released the first trailer for a great-looking anime series titled Leviathan, which tells a story that is set during World War I.

The series is based on a trilogy of novels written by Scott Westerfeld. The story is takes place in a fictional world that mirrors our own.

In 1914, “on the eve of war, a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise meet aboard a bioengineered airship, the HMS Leviathan, and change the course of history.

“Prince Aleksander, would-be heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is on the run. Deryn Sharp is a commoner, disguised as a boy in the British Air Service.

“As World War I begins to erupt, Alek and Deryn’s paths cross in the most unexpected way… taking them on a fantastical, around-the- world adventure that will change both their lives forever.”

This is a very different version of the war, though, as it combatants battle in mech suits called "Clankers," which are less technologically advanced than the mechs we’re familiar such as Mobile Suit Gundams and Eva Units. You’ll get to see these Clankers in action in the trailer.

Christophe Ferreira (Eden character designs) is directing the anime series, with Joe Hisaishi contributing original songs for the production. Nobuko Toda (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045) and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Suzume, RWBY: Ice Queendom) are the music composers. Studio Orange is handling the animation production.

The upcoming anime series is slated to hit Netflix in 2025.
