Cool Trailer for the Fantasy Epic Anime Film THE DEER KING From SPIRITED AWAY Animator

If you’re a fan of anime films such as Spirited Away, Paprika, and Your Name, I’ve got a trailer for a new fantasy epic anime film titled The Deer King. This looks like a beautifully made visually impressive film that will tell and it comes from Masashi Ando, who is making his directorial debut. He worked as a character designer, animation director, and key animator on the movies I mentioned above. Masayuki Miyaji is co-directing.

The film is based on a series of novels by Nahoko Uehashi and here are the story details for the film:

In the aftermath of a brutal war, former soldier Van toils in a mine controlled by the ruling empire. One day, his solitary existence is upended when a pack of wild dogs carrying a deadly and incurable disease attack, leaving only Van and a young girl named Yuna as survivors. Finally free, the pair seek out a simple existence in the countryside but are pursued by nefarious forces. Intent on protecting Yuna at all costs, Van must uncover the true cause of the plague ravaging the kingdom—and its possible cure.

The fantastical film is going to take audiences on quite an adventurous journey, and it also looks like the kind of story that’ll tug at the emotional heartstrings.

GKIDS will be distributing the film and they will be teaming up with Fathom Events to bring it to US theaters. The Deer King will be released in select theaters on July 13th, 2022.
