Corey Hawkins Set To Star in Amblin's Dracula Film LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER

Corey Hawkins (24: Legacy, 6 Underground) is set to star in Amblin’s Dracula film, Last Voyage Of The Demeter, which has been in development for over 17 years. Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark helmer Andre Øvredal is set to direct the project and it’s looking like the movie is actually going to get made.

The script for the film was written by Bullet Train scribe Zak Olkewicz, and the story is based on a single chapter, “The Captain’s Log,” from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula.

The story centers around the ship that transported Dracula from Transylvania to London. In the novel, the Demeter washes up on the shores of England, tattered and broken, with one raving mad survivor. Schut's script places the voyage center stage in a tale that is said to be reminiscent of the first Alien movie, in which a crew is slaughtered one-by-one by a mysterious passenger.

It’s said the film will “detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence onboard the ship. When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbor, it was a derelict. There was no trace of the crew.”

The is a horror film project that I’ve been excited about since I first heard it was being made and I think Øvredal is going to do some great things with it as he brings the story to life.
