Could ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Be Quentin Tarantino's Last Film? The Director Teases His Retirement

It looks like Quentin Tarantino is considering retiring from directing films sooner than we thought. Tarantino has been saying for years that he would retire after his tenth movie. But now it looks like he’s considering walking away from it all after his ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

A few years ago Tarantino said:

“I don’t believe you should stay on stage until people are begging you to get off. I like the idea of leaving them wanting a bit more. I do think directing is a young man’s game and I like the idea of an umbilical cord connection from my first to my last movie.”

Now it seems that time is getting close. If Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ends up being hit, he might just retire when he’s on the top of his game. In a recent interview, he said:

“I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road. I see myself writing books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies. If [Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is] really well received, maybe I won’t go to 10. Maybe I’ll stop right now! Maybe I’ll stop while I’m ahead. We’ll see.”

As a fan of Tarantino’s work, it would be sad to see him stop making films. But he loves making movies, so there’s a chance that he may never retire even though he says he will. But if he actually does surprise me and retire, I guess that means we won’t be getting that R-rated Star Trek movie he’s been planning, which would be a shame.

What do you all think about Tarantino possibly retiring after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?
