Could We Be Getting a BLUE BEETLE Series on HBO Max?
Recently there has been a rumor floating around the internet that DC Super hero Jaime Reyes aka The Blue Beetle is getting his own series on HBO Max. This news comes from Daniel RPK’s Patreon page (via CBR):
A new report suggests that a series based on Blue Beetle may be in development at HBO Max.
According to Daniel Richtman, the streaming service is developing a series based on the DC Comics character. No other details were provided.
Look, I know it isn’t much to go on, but it is something. If you have read any of my previous articles about DC then you know that I have always wanted a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle movie or show. I dig their chemistry and backstories. We have seen them in Smallville and in Young Justice. However, it was previously reported that DC was looking at making a Blue Beetle solo movie. That was okay in my book, but if they are really giving one of DC’s most underrated heroes his own show, I am thrilled.
There will be a lot of naysayers out there that don’t feel that he can hold his own in a solo series, which is totally understandable. He is most commonly associated with being with Booster or the Titans. I think that is what makes him a more valuable solo act. He has a great deal of friends throughout the comic universe that they can bring into play. For those of you who don’t know Blue Beetle, here is a little synopsis:
Jaime Reyes discovered the Blue Beetle scarab on the way home from school with two of his best friends Paco and Brenda, half-buried in a disused lot. Reyes took the scarab home, curious as to what it might be. That night, the scarab came alive, and grafted itself to the base of Jaime’s spine, and provided him with a suit of extraterrestrial armor which can be modified to enhance his speed and strength, as well as to create weapons, wings and shields.
