Craig Gillespie is Set To Direct Disney's CRUELLA
Director Craig Gillespie (The Finest Hours, I, Tonya) is set to direct the live action film Cruella. The film was originally supposed to be directed by Alex Timbers (Mozart of the Jungle), but I guess things didn’t work out.
Emma Stone is set to take on the lead role of Cruella De Vil and Gillespie seems like a solid choice. He’s made some great films in his career, which also includes Fright Night, Million Dollar Arm, and Lars and The Real Girl.
The movie will give fans an origin story of the classic villain introduced in Disney’s 1961 animated classic 101 Dalmatians, in which she's obsessed with capturing the Dalmatians. The story is said to take place in the 1980s.
Cruella is described as having both "strong fashion and music sensibilities,” and it this is definitely a role that Emma Stone will be great in. It’s not hard to imagine her as this classic Disney villain.
