Crazy TITANIC Fan Has Collected 1,560 VHS Copies of the Film on His Way To a Million
A crazed Titanic fan has collected 1,560 VHS copies of James Cameron’s Academy Award-winning film and he won’t stop until he gets to a million.
The fan goes by the name of JD and titanicfan97 on TikTok, where he shares lots of videos showing off his insane collection. He recently talked with Variety about his collection, where he reveals that other fans around the world are sending him all kinds of Titanic stuff like a crocheted Jack Dawson and even a piece from a deck chair onboard the real ship. He said:
"In 2012, we picked up a few copies. The shop had them on display on the top shelf, so it looked glorious. And I'm like, 'I know no one's ever going to buy these.' They're super cheap, so we got a box and filled it with all the Titanics, and we slowly started collecting it for a few years. We had about 100 before I started making the TikTok, so it really was last year when we went from 100 to 1,560 or so. It kind of exploded on its own. I have no control at this point."
He went on to say that his goal is 1,997 copies, to commemorate the year that the film was released, but he’s also hoping to eventually get to a million.
"They made 25 million of them. So at least a million copies… I think I can recover that many."
Here’s one of the videos that JD has shared on his TikTok. It’s absolutely ridiculous, but hey… everyone needs a hobby.
