Crazy Trailer for Mia Wasikowska's Demented Psychosexual Film PIERCING

"What's the nastiest thing you've ever done?"

Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for an insane and deranged new thriller called Piercing, which stars Mia Wasikowska and Christopher Abbot. I had a chance to see this film at Sundance earlier this year, and although it’s not a perfect movie, I did enjoy aspects of its craziness.

The movie is psychosexual thriller about a man who meets with a call girl at a hotel with every intention of killing her. But he ends up getting way over his head with this girl and having some major issues pulling it off.

The film is filled with some very dark comedic moments. Here’s the synopsis:

Reed (Christopher Abbott) is going on a business trip. He kisses his wife and infant son goodbye, but in lieu of a suitcase filled with clothes, he’s packed a toothbrush and a murder kit. Everything is meticulously planned: check into a hotel and kill an unsuspecting victim. Only then will he rid himself of his devious impulses and continue to be a good husband and father. But Reed gets more than he bargained for with Jackie (Mia Wasikowska), an alluring call girl who arrives at his room. First, they relax and get in the mood, but when there’s an unexpected disruption, the balance of control begins to sway back and forth between the two. Is he seeing things? Who’s playing whom? Before the night is over, a feverish nightmare will unfold, and Reed and Jackie will seal their bond in blood.

This is what Bryam had to say in his review of the film:

It is very clever in its execution and had some amazing comic book-like visuals throughout. There are a couple scenes which seemed unnecessary altogether, but you can tell were very important to the director. I didn’t care for the main actor, Christopher Abbot. He was unlikable, which could be the point. Mia Wasikowska was both charming and wonderfully psychotic in her role and seemed to steal the show with everything she did.

Altogether, it had some great parts and isn’t bad in the long run, it does have a feel of disconnectedness, as if the director had a bunch of cool ideas for a movie, and decided to put them all in one but without really considering if he should. Check it out if you are in for a laugh… or you know… some brutal violence.

The movie was directed by Nicolas Pesce and will be released on December 7th.
