Creator of Laser Tag Says He Was Inspired By STAR WARS

The creator of Laser Tag, George Carter, says that Star Wars inspired him to make the game. After seeing the film in Las Vegas, Carter wanted to recreate the scenes he saw on the screen in real life. The final design, however, was not what Carter initially intended his idea to be!

"I found out early on that there was a rule against shooting lasers at people. There's a federal agency that didn't allow that."

Interesting side note on Carter: he also invented the modern form of "bumper boats." So basically this guy was responsible for a bulk of fun you had in the late '80s to mid '90s.
