Creature Designer Phil Tippett's Insane Stop-Motion Sci-Fi Movie MAD GOD Acquired By Shudder

Over the past 30 years, legendary special effects artist and creature designer Phil Tippett has been working on an experimental stop-motion animated film titled Mad God and this movie looks gnarly and absolutely insane!

Luckily, we’ll all get to see Mad God as Shudder has acquired the film and it will get a limited theatrical release and debut on the streaming service on June 16th. Tippett has worked on a ton of films over the course of his career including Star WarsRoboCop, Starship Troopers, Jurassic Park, and more.

Mad God is set in “a world of monsters, mad scientists and war pigs. A corroded diving bell descends amidst a ruined city and the Assassin emerges to explore a labyrinth of bizarre landscapes inhabited by freakish denizens. This unique labour of love combines many innovative animation techniques and has taken Phil Tippett 30 years to complete.”

Shudder general manager, Craig Engler, said in a statement: “In short, Phil Tippett is a genius, and there’s no better home for him and his visionary mind than Shudder. We’re proud to bring this sure-to-be timeless film to our members.”

Tippett added: “It’s been over 30 years, but thanks to the team at Tippett Studio we finally made the dream a reality. I’m proud to partner with Shudder on the release of Mad God, and it’s an honor that my original vision can now be shared with audiences across the country.”

A trailer for the movie was released last year and in case you missed it, you can watch it below and get a little taste of the madness that awaits!
