Creepy Footage From Unproduced Horror Series Reboot of ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?

Some footage has surfaced that was shot for an unproduced reboot of the family horror series Are You Afraid of the Dark?

This version of the series was being developed by director Jared Pelletier, who says that "this was shot years ago when the IP was being rebooted."

While he was working on this, the studio, Nickelodeon, greenlit a “lighter version” of the series, so this dark version of the show was scrapped, which is a shame because it looks like it would’ve been a lot better than what was released.

Pelletier explained that "this version took a darker 90s approach, when shows like Goosebumps were decidedly unafraid to scare kids."

The original Are You Afraid of the Dark? originally aired on Nickelodeon from 1992 to 1996, with another reboot that ran from 2019 to 2022.

This is all we’ll ever see of what was shot for the show. It’s a shame that this isn’t the version that got the greenlight.
