Creepy New Promo Spot For PET SEMATARY Teases Zelda

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see the new Pet Sematary movie! The book and the original film both scared the living shit out of me when I was growing up and I really hope that this movie will deliver that same level of terror and fear to audiences.

We’ve got a brief new promo spot for you to watch today. It’s only 15-seconds long, but it teases our first look at Zelda. For those of you familiar with the story, you know why this is a big deal. She is terrifying.

Zelda is “the twisted, agonized figure whose emaciated body was corkscrewed with spinal meningitis. The flashback to her grim, short life scarred readers and moviegoers almost as much as it did Rachel.” In regards to how Zelda will be used in the remake, co-director Dennis Widmyer previously talked about how they were handling the character saying:

“It’s more accurate to the book, I’ll just say that. In the original movie, it’s a 21-year-old guy in drag playing it, and in the book, as you recall, it’s a 10-year-old girl.”

He went on to say:

“You go, ‘How do you top Zelda? It was big and scary and awesome, but if you think about the reality of the Zelda situation, what that would do to a family, with her wasting away in this bedroom, and a younger sister being frightened of her older sister’s debilitating illness, that on its own is pretty scary.”

He’s absolutely right. Now watch the promo:

They don't come back the same. Based on the terrifying novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary is in theatres April 5th. Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, (#StephenKing) #PetSematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family's new home.

The movie was directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kölsch and it stars Jason Clarke as Dr. Louis Creed, John Lithgow as Jud Crandall and Amy Seimetz as Rachel. They all look like they’re going to be great in their roles!
