Creepy New Trailer for GOOD BOY Unleashes a Haunted House Horror from the Dog’s POV
IFC Films has dropped a chilling new trailer for Good Boy, a haunted house horror story unlike anything we’ve seen before because it’s told entirely from the perspective of the family dog.
The debut feature from director Ben Leonberg, Good Boy follows Indy, a loyal pup who moves with his owner Todd into a secluded countryside home. It doesn’t take long before Indy notices something isn’t right.
Shadows stretch too long, rooms feel too empty, and unseen presences lurk in every corner. When sinister forces begin targeting Todd, Indy becomes the unlikely hero, fighting to protect the human he loves most.
The film stars Indy the Dog as Indy, alongside Larry Fessenden, Arielle Friedman, Shane Jensen, Anya Krawcheck, and Stuart Rudin. Early reviews have been solid, but most people are agreeing this one is all about the dog stealing the show as he sniffs out ghosts and tries to save the day.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Our canine hero, Indy, finds himself on a new adventure with his human owner—and best friend—Todd, leaving city life for a long-vacant family home in the country.
“From the start, two things are abundantly clear: Indy is wary of the creepy old house, and his affection for Todd is unwavering. After moving in, Indy is immediately vexed by the empty corners, tracks an invisible presence only he can see, perceives phantasmagoric warnings from a long-dead dog, and is haunted by visions of the previous occupant's grim death.
“When Todd begins succumbing to the dark forces swirling around the house, Indy must battle a malevolence intent on dragging his beloved Todd into the afterlife...”
Good Boy is written by Leonberg and Alex Cannon, with production by Leonberg and Kari Fischer. While it may not be the scariest horror film of the year, it looks like a fresh and fun indie horror that mixes heart and hair-raising chills. Plus, who doesn’t want to watch a brave doggy take on evil spirits?!
If you’re looking for something unique to kick off your Halloween watchlist, keep your eye out for Good Boy when it hits select theaters on October 3rd. I’m excited to watch this movie!
