Creepy Trailer for Folk Horror Film LORD OF MISRULE About a Small Town with a Dark Past

Here’s a trailer for an upcoming folk horror thriller Lord of Misrule, and this looks like it’s going to be a great film that tells a creepy story. I enjoy horror films that are based on folklore, and this actually looks like it’s going to be worth watching!

The movie comes from the director of The Boy and Orphan: First Kill, William Brent Bell, and it stars Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Green Knight), who seems to be the leader of some kind of sinister pagan cult that kidnaps the young girl of a priest.

The film follows “Rebecca Holland (Tuppence Middleton), who has recently taken over as priest of a small town. When her young daughter Grace (Evie Templeton) goes missing at the local harvest festival, a desperate search begins. The closer they edge towards finding Grace, the more secrets emerge from the town’s dark past. Soon, Rebecca must decide just how much she is willing to sacrifice to rescue her daughter from the grip of evil.”

The script for the film was written by Tom de Ville (The Quiet Ones) and the movie looks like it was inspired by films such as The Wicker Man and Midsommar.

Magnet Releasing will release Lord of Misrule in theaters and on VOD on December 8, 2023.
