Creepy Trailer for the Psychological Horror Thriller RUN RABBIT RUN Starring Sarah Snook
Netflix has released the first trailer for Run Rabbit Run, a psychological horror film about a single mother who starts to completely freak out over her young daughter's inexplicable memories of a past identity.
The movie stars Succession’s Sarah Snook as a fertility doctor named Sarah who “begins her beloved daughter Mia’s seventh birthday expecting nothing amiss. But as an ominous wind swirls in, Sarah’s carefully controlled world begins to alter. Mia begins behaving oddly and a rabbit appears outside their front door — a mysterious birthday gift that delights Mia but seems to deeply disconcert Sarah. As days pass, Mia becomes increasingly not herself, demanding to see Sarah’s long-estranged, hospitalized mother (the grandmother she’s never met before) and fraying Sarah’s nerves as the child’s bizarre tantrums begin to point her toward Sarah’s own dark history. As a ghost from her past re-enters Sarah’s life, she struggles to cling to her distant young daughter.”
I had a chance to see this movie at Sundance earlier this year, and while I like the concept the complete lack of common sense with the main character was frustrating as hell. The fact that she continued to make the dumbest decisions over the course of the story made it hard for me to enjoy the movie. But it does tell a dark and disturbing story, so if you enjoy these kinds of films, you might want to check this one out.
The movie was written by Hannah Kent (The Good People, Devotion, Burial Rites) and directed by Daina Reid (Shining Girls, The Handmaid's Tale, The Outsider). It also stars Lily LaTorre, Damon Herriman (Thai Cave Rescue, The Serpent, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Greta Scacchi (Darby & Joan, Shepherd).
The movie will be released on Netflix on June 28th.
