Crunchyroll Becomes Majority Investor in VIZ Media Europe Group

If you’re in Europe and enjoy anime, here’s some news for you. Over the weekend, it was announced that Crunchyroll and VIZ Media Europe Group were entering into a new partnership that would see Crunchyroll assume the role of being the majority investor in VIZ Media EG.

This will combine one of the world’s biggest anime streaming service platforms with the leading manga distributor and publisher in Europe. This should give both companies quite a boost, although specific terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tony Goncalves, the CEO of Otter Media (the company that owns Crunchyroll said in a statement:

Crunchyroll has helped enable anime to become a mainstay in popular culture, and we are committed to this growing category. This transaction between Crunchyroll and VIZ Media will combine one of the major anime brands ex-Asia with a well-known and beloved manga and anime distributor. Together, we aim to create connections for passionate anime fans across Europe and beyond.
