CRYSTAL LAKE Unleashes Its Bloody Opening Scene Ahead of the FRIDAY THE 13TH Prequel’s Premiere

Camp Crystal Lake is almost open for business, and Peacock is giving horror fans an early taste of the carnage.

Ahead of the premiere of its Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, Peacock has released the show’s opening scene, and it comes soaked in blood.

The clip introduces Pam, played by Linda Cardellini, standing in front of a mirror with blood covering her face and clothes. Whatever happened moments earlier clearly wasn’t pretty.

As she examines herself, Pam pulls a piece of glass from her knuckles and asks her reflection, “What did you do?”

We don’t get an answer. We don’t even get much context. That’s exactly what makes the scene work. It drops us directly into the aftermath of something horrific and leaves the circumstances hanging until the series arrives.

It also feels like Peacock planting a flag for what kind of Friday the 13th series this will be. “Oh yes, there will be blood.” Get ready.

Produced by A24 and led by showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who also worked on It: Welcome to Derry, Crystal Lake takes audiences back into the history surrounding one of horror’s most infamous locations.

Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees, the mother of Jason Voorhees, with the story following the disturbing events that consume the town after her son drowns.

That gives Crystal Lake plenty of room to dig into Pamela’s story and the horror surrounding the Voorhees family before Jason became the hockey mask-wearing slasher icon fans know from the Friday the 13th movies.

The newly released scene certainly suggests the series won’t be holding back when things get nasty. All eight episodes of Crystal Lake premiere October 15, 2026, on Peacock in the U.S.

Check out the bloody opening scene and prepare for another trip to Crystal Lake.
