A new trailer and poster have been released for an adorable-looking animated kids movie titled The Amazing Maurice. The film is co-directed by German animators Toby Genkel (Two Times Lotte, Thor: Legend of Magical Hammer) and visual effects artist Florian Westermann in his directorial debut. The screenplay is written by Terry Rossio, adapted from the book by Terry Pratchett.

The star-studded voice cast includes Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton, David Thewlis, Joe Sugg, Ariyon Bakare, Rob Brydon, plus Hugh Bonneville.

Here’s the synopsis:

Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of talking rats. When Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, they meet a bookworm named Malicia and their little con soon goes down the drain.

This looks like a really cute story with a funny cat and a strong protagonist. Check out the trailer and poster below, and watch The Amazing Maurice in theaters on February 3rd, after it’s Sundance Film Festival debut.
