Daft Punk Calls It Quits After 28 Years and Releases an 8 Minute Epilogue Video
The popular electronic music duo, Daft Punk, has officially announced that they are calling it quits. The musical duo made up by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo has broken up and are going their separate ways.
The announcement of their retirement was made with a cinematic video they shared titled “Epilogue,” and the duo’s longtime publicist officially confirmed the split. There’s no reason given as to why they are splitting, but they certainly made the announcement in dramatic fashion.
The video shows the duo walking through the desert, and it dramatically escalates into one of them exploding. The explosion is followed by the surviving member walking through the desert at sunset with their Random Access Memories track “Touch” playing.
Over the years, Daft Punk released four studio albums, two live albums, and they created one of the best movie soundtracks of the last decade for Tron: Legacy. I hate starting the week off with bummer news like this. It always sucks to see something like this happen, but I wish both of them the best as they move forward with their future endeavors.
