Daisy Ridley Gives Update on Her Solo STAR WARS Rey Skywalker Movie - "I Know the Wait Will Be Worth It"

It has been almost three years since Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced that actress Daisy Ridley would be returning to the role of Rey Skywalker in her own solo film, Star Wars: New Jedi Order.

But there has been very little traction on the project since then, aside from a few updates that things are slowly chugging forward. Ridley has another one of those slow and steady progress reports for fans, urging us to be patient as this movie will be worth the wait.

In an interview with IGN, Ridley said:

“Honestly, there are scripts that I read five years ago, and now I’ve gone, ‘Oh, maybe they will actually happen.’ I think over the years, I’ve learned how the reality of getting any film made is so massive.

“The hurdles are vast . . . But with this [Rey movie], particularly, I know that incredible voices and creatives are part of it, and I know the wait will be worth it.”

New Jedi Order will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) from a script written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). Set 15 years after Episode 7, the film will see the Jedi Order in disarray – and Rey attempting to rebuild it.

Stay tuned for updates.
