Daisy Ridley Now Says She May Not Be Done With STAR WARS After Episode IX After All
Last week an interview was released in which Daisy Ridley said that she would be done playing Rey after Star Wars: Episode IX. Well, it turns out that quote was completely taken out of context and she is not closing the door on Rey after Episode IX. The actress set the record straight in an interview with CB saying:
"Misquoted. I was misquoted. I was asked — by the way, at the end of a very long day, at the end of a very long shoot — I was asked how I felt going forward. And I said, in my mind, the story finishes at Episode IX."
Rey's journey began in The Force Awakens and will play out of the course of two more films. Who knows what's going to happen after that. But, if Lucasfilm does decide to continue the adventures of Rey, she seems like she would be open to it. She goes on to explain further:
"To me, Star Wars is in threes. [Episodes] 4, 5, 6; 1, 2, 3; 7, 8, 9. So, for me, that's what I was signing on to; VII, VIII, IX. So that's really what I was answering. And I think, for now- I'm not saying forever.
"Obviously, Rey will always be Rey… and obviously I don't know what happens in Episode IX, or even if I'm in it. But for now I think it would be- To me, IX was always the end of this chapter. So, it's not me going 'I don't want to.' It's just that's what I always pictured."
It remains to be seen what Lucasfilm is picturing for these characters in the future. As of right now, though, they are focused on finishing up this newest trilogy before they start diving into what they might do next with the saga.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15.
