Daisy Ridley Says It Felt Good to Play the Dark Side of Rey in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

Lucasfilm has shared some incredible trailers for the upcoming final installment of the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. They have given us hints and peaks at what we will see in the final film, but naturally, a lot of the context and full story is yet to be seen. In one trailer we see Rey (Daisy Ridley) battling Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in a storm, where she says, “People keep telling me they know me. No one does.” And Kylo Ren responds, “But I do.”

Then in a recent, extended second trailer, we hear Emperor Palpatine say, “Your journey… nears its end,” just before we see Rey standing cloaked in black, wielding a double-sided red lightsaber. This was a shock to the fans to see Rey possibly on the dark side! And while Ridley, of course, can’t say much about it, CB reported that she spoke out about the scene to Adoro Cinema, and said she enjoyed getting to play “Rey’s dark side.” She also said:

"It's fun to play someone's best version, and then the worst. It's an amazing thing to do as an actress, but we can't do it often. ... I felt very good. That's the most I can say, unfortunately."

Although it doesn’t sound like much, it’s actually more than I thought she would say. She actually does verify that she got to play the worst version of Rey. This could still end up being a dream, or a diversion tactic or something, but I’m interested to find out, to say the least! We are only a month away now, and all our questions will be answered. What do you think the circumstances surrounding Rey’s dark side story are?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th. Are you excited?!
