Daisy Ridley to Play an ICU Nurse Turned MMA Fighter in True Story Drama KILLA BEE

Daisy Ridley sugned onto an interesting film project titled Killa Bee that will tell the true story of ICU nurse turned MMA fighter Bryony Tyrell.

The movie follows Tyrell’s incredible real-life journey, a mother of two, holding a master’s in nursing and a degree in molecular biology, who worked grueling shifts in the ICU by day before transforming into a fierce cage fighter by night.

Balancing her NHS duties with her passion for combat sports, Tyrell climbed the ranks from amateur to professional, ultimately becoming one of Britain’s top MMA prospects.

Ridley shared her enthusiasm for the role, saying: “Bryony’s story is one of extraordinary courage and resilience. I was deeply moved by her emotional and empowering journey. I can’t wait to bring her spirit to the screen.”

The film is being written by Ruth Sewell and directed by Kenton Oxley (Farah), with production set to begin next year. It’s being produced by Knockout Productions in association with Picture Perfect and Moviehouse Entertainment.

According to the producers: “Bryony Tyrell has been involved in the project with Kenton Oxley since the beginning and is supportive of her inspirational story being brought to the screen.

“She is actively consulting on the project. The scripting process has been shaped in close dialogue with Bryony’s family, ensuring emotional truth and creative integrity at every turn.

“Director Kenton, a longtime friend of Bryony’s since their school days, brings a deeply personal lens to the story—one rooted in trust, history, and fierce creative loyalty.”

Capture will be launching world sales on the project ahead of the American Film Market, with international sales manager Nathan Wang commenting:

“It’s a true honour to be working on this highly original, raw, inspirational, and ultimately unforgettable project. It’s our first time partnering with Daisy Ridley, and we cannot wait to see her bring Byony’s grit, vulnerability and sheer inspirational drive to the screen.”

For Ridley, best known for playing Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, this marks another great role for her to take on. She recently starred in the action film The Cleaner and is currently in post-production on the romantic comedy The Last Resort.

Killa Bee sounds like a knockout story that is fueled by strength, perseverance, and an indomitable spirit. I’m sure that Ridley is going to be awesome in the role.
