Damon Lindelof Says Has No Interest in Making WATCHMEN Season 2
Damon Lindelof’s HBO series Watchmen was a seriously incredible masterpiece of a show. It is easily Lindelof’s best work. Fans, critics, and audiences loved it, and they’ve all been wondering if we would see a second season produced.
HBO executive Casey Bloys recently indicated that Watchmen Season 2 was entirely up to Lindelof. Well, USA Today recently reached out to Lindelof to ask him about the possibility of Season 2, and this is where he says that he has no interest in developing a second season:
"Lindelof told USA TODAY this week that he's told the story he wants to tell and has no interest in a second season, though he's ‘given my blessing’ to HBO should it want to pursue a new installment with another writer-producer."
While he has given HBO his blessing, it doesn’t sound like HBO will do it without him. Bloys has said that Watchmen without Lindelof is unlikely, as "It would be hard to imagine doing it without Damon involved in some way.”
You know what? I’m completely fine with this. Lindelof told a great story, and if that one season is all we get, then I’ll take it. There’s no point in drawing out the story if this was the one and only story that Lindelof wanted to tell.
