Damon Lindelof's STAR WARS Film is Said to Be Set After The Events of RISE OF SKYWALKER
Over the weekend, it was officially announced that Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, The Leftovers) was co-writing a new Star Wars film that would be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
We’ve got some more information to share with you on the project thanks to The Hollywood Reporter. Lindelof is co-writing the script with Justin Britt-Gibson, who most recently wrote on Guillermo del Toro's The Strain.
It’s also being reported that the story will be set after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, bit it's not a direct continuation of the Skywalker Saga. The plan is to make a standalone film that could expand over the course of several other films and there are characters from the sequel trilogy that could show up, but that’s not confirmed.
Earlier this year Lindelof talked about wanting to work on Star Wars, saying: "And, at some point, but certainly not in the immediate future, I feel like I would love to do something in the Star Wars universe. Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot."
Well, Lindelof is getting his chance and I would love to see him deliver an incredible Star Wars film! He’s done great work recently on Watchmen and The Leftovers, so he’s on a roll with good projects!
