Dan Aykroyd Lays Into GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Director Paul Feig For Not Listening

A lot of fans weren't really happy with how Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot turned out. I thought it had some fun moments throughout the film, but for the most part is was kind of a mess. It's a shame because there was a lot of great comedic talent involved and I think it could've been a decent film had they come up with a better take on the story and characters.

Dan Aykroyd was a producer on the film and although he praised the film before it was released, he's now singing a different tune. While a guest on Britain’s TV show Sunday Brunch, Aykroyd laid into Feig because he didn't listen to them and he ended up costing the studio a ton of money in reshoots that could have been avoided. 

“[Ghostbusters] made a lot of money around the world but just cost too much, making it economically not feasible to do another one. So that’s too bad. The director, he spent too much on it. He didn’t shoot scenes we suggested to him and several scenes that were going to be needed and he said, ‘Nah, we don’t need them.’ Then we tested the movie and they needed them and he had to go back. About $30 to $40-million in reshoots. So he will not be back on the Sony lot any time soon.”

It doesn't sound like Feig will be directing any movies for Sony Pictures anytime soon. That's a lot of money on reshoots! There are full feature films that are made on the budget of what those reshoots cost! And in case you're wondering, the next film that he plans on making is The Heat 2.

Aykroyd still stands by the film and its cast, but he's not happy with the way Feig didn't listen and wasted money.
