Dan Stevens Still Wants to Make a Sequel to THE GUEST: “I’m Very Willing”
It’s been over a decade since Dan Stevens first unleashed his quietly menacing charm in The Guest, but the actor isn’t done with that world just yet. Eleven years later, he’s still eager to step back into the role that turned him into a cult action icon.
“I’m very willing,” Stevens told JoBlo. “I’m very willing, although I will say, time is running out for me to be in the shape that David was in ten years ago. So we’d better make it soon; otherwise, it’s going to be tricky. As to how likely it is to happen, I don’t know.”
Released in 2014, The Guest was directed by Adam Wingard and followed Stevens as David, a polite and mysterious soldier who visits a grieving family, claiming to have served with their deceased son in Afghanistan.
They welcome him into their home, but things take a dark turn as a string of violent deaths grips their small town. The film didn’t set the box office on fire, but it became a cult favorite thanks to its slick style, killer synth soundtrack, and Stevens’ magnetic performance.
Since then, Stevens and Wingard have continued their creative partnership, teaming up again for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which stomped into theaters last year.
Their next project, Onslaught, sounds pretty wild. The upcoming action-horror flick stars Stevens alongside Adria Arjona, Rebecca Hall, and Drew Starkey, and follows a mother trying to protect her family after a mysterious threat escapes from a military base.
And Stevens will return to the MonsterVerse once again in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is set to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
Fans have been clamoring for a sequel to The Guest for years, and Stevens’ enthusiasm might just reignite that hope. If Wingard and Stevens can find time in their monster-sized schedules, maybe it’ll actually happen.
