Daniel Dae Kim in Talks To Replace Ed Skrein in HELLBOY

After Ed Skrein dropped out of Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot after it reignited Hollywood's whitewashing controversy, Lionsgate went on the hunt for a new actor to replace him. According to Variety, the studio is currently in talks with Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) to take n the role of Major Ben Daimio. the character is described as a rough-and-tough military-type and member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. His character also has the ability to turn into a jaguar when he gets angry or his hurt. The character is also of Asian heritage in the source material.

Kim recently made headlines when he dropped out of Hawaii Five-O following a controversy involving his salary. The actor wanted equal pay with stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, but they were unable to reach a deal, so he bailed.

Kim is a solid actor and it's not hard to imagine him in the role at all. If cast, I'm sure he'll make a great addition to the cast! Kim would join David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Milla Jovovich as the Nimue, Blood Queen, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, and Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, a witch who has decided that the Blood Queen's wrath has gone on for too long.

This will be a dark R-rated version of Hellboy that is said to play out more like a horror film. I think that's one of the things that excites me most about this new adaptation.

Hellboy will hit theaters sometime in late 2018. For more details on the Hellboy reboot and to catch up on all our previous news for it, click here.
