Daniel Dae Kim to Star in Spy Thriller Series BUTTERFLY for Amazon Based on the BOOM! Studios Graphic Novel

BOOM Studios and Daniel Dae Kim’s 3AD have announced they’re developing a television series for Amazon Studios based on the 2015 graphic novel Butterfly. The spy thriller came from the team of Arash Amel, Marguerite Bennett, Antonio Fuso, and Stefano Simeone. The series already has Kim attached to star in addition to his role as executive producer and Ken Woodruff (Gotham) will be co-writing and co-creating the adaptation with novelist Steph Cha (Your House Will Pay). The series is hoping to start filming this fall and will be Amazon’s first original production to shoot in South Korea.

BUTTERFLY is a character-driven spy thriller that explores complex family dynamics within the treacherous world of global espionage. It centers on David Jung, an enigmatic, highly unpredictable former US intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca, a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him.

If you’ll excuse me, I have a graphic novel to read. This sounds like an incredible story and I’m interested to see how well it’s handled. Who should join Kim in the adaptation?
