Daniel LaRusso Is Ready For a Fight in New Trailer For COBRA KAI
"Guy thinks he can bring Cobra Kai back to the valley? Not on my watch."
A new teaser trailer has been released for YouTube Red's new series Cobra Kai, which is a sequel series to the classic Karate Kid film franchise. This latest trailer puts the focus on Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) who isn't happy to see that Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) is starting up the Cobra Kai dojo again. It seems like he will make it his mission to destroy Johnny Lawrence... again.
Look, I know that Daniel has always been considered the good guy in the story and his intentions are good. But, as I've watched the original films over the years, I've noticed more and more that he's kind of been a dick.
There are a couple of great moments in the trailer. One involves the classic skeleton costumes from the original film, and the other feature Ralph making a joke about kicking Johnny in the face all those years ago.
The story is set 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. The story revolves around a down and out Johnny who, seeking redemption, reopens the infamous Cobra Kai dojo. This reignites his rivalry with a now-successful Daniel, who is living his life as a family man and proud owner of the No. 1 car dealership in the Valley. He has also been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi (the late Pat Morita).
Cobra Kai also stars Xolo Maridueña (Parenthood), Tanner Buchanan (Designated Survivor), Courtney Henggeler (Mom) and Mary Mouser(Freakish). Ed Asner will also guest star.
The series comes from Harold and Kumar franchise creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and Hot Tub Time Machine writer Josh Heald.
