Daniel Radcliffe On The Fence About Whether He Would Ever Return as Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe refuses to rule out a return as Harry Potter, but he's also afraid to commit. THR quotes the actor in a recent interview:

"I’m never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do, but I think I’ll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it."

“At the moment it’s not even a concern because I’m too young to play the character, but even in 10 years' time I would still feel strange about going back to it."

Radcliffe is referring to Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, which takes place far into Harry's adulthood as a father.

If people are thinking it's because Radcliffe is afraid of being typecast, it's far from it. Radcliffe goes further to say he's afraid of souring what is already a beloved series:

“There’s a part of me that’s like, some things are better left untouched. If we went back to Potter, there’s a chance we’d make what Star Wars: The Force Awakens was to the original Star Wars, but there’s also the chance that we’d make Phantom Menace.”

It's also a huge commitment to be a part of such a large franchise! Radcliffe spent most of his adolescence and teen years on set for the franchise. That's a lot of time for an actor to spend on one role, so if he didn't want to give away that much time when his career is just starting to bring in different roles, I can't blame him at all!

That doesn't mean I don't want to see him play Harry Potter again, however — I think we all want that.
