Danny Boyle Will Direct Michael B. Jordan in METHUSELAH

Danny Boyle is set to direct Michael B. Jordan in Methuselah, while Simon Beaufoy, who worked with Boyle on Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours, is being eyed to rewrite the script. Tony Gilroy (The Bourne films) wrote the last draft of the screenplay.

Methuselah was a man in the Bible who lived to be almost 1,000 years old. This was the story that the film was originally going to tell, but according to Variety that has changed, and “the creative team is taking a new approach with the plot.”

The film is said to have a Highlander-like mythology and franchise potential. “The idea is for Jordan to play a man who has managed to survive for hundreds of years, without showing the physical signs of age. In that time, he has accumulated vast intellectual knowledge, from multiple languages to the sciences, as well as survival skills.”

A few years ago, WB was trying to make the film with Tom Cruise, but that version of the film never got off the ground. I’m a fan of Boyle’s film work and style and I’m curious to see what his vision is for this new movie. The last movie he made was the wonderful film, Yesterday.
