DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN - Details Revealed for the Original Scrapped Story for Marvel's Series

Marvel Studios is in the process of making some big changes to its upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again. The studios fired its head writers and directors halfway through the production of the series because the show they were making “wasn’t working.”

They are now in the process of building a new creative team for the series and with that comes “a significant creative reboot” of their plans. Some information is now starting to leak out regarding the original direction of the story, which has now been scrapped. Some of the plans revealed the story arc for White Tiger and how it connected to The Punisher.

The following information came from industry insider CanWeGotSomeToast. Some of these story elements still might make it into the series, so there’s a potential spoiler alert for those who care.

Foggy Nelson would have reportedly been killed off in the premiere, and at that point, Matt Murdock would have given up being Daredevil. He wouldn’t have even suited up until halfway through the first season. It would have been more of a legal procedural drama than a superhero series. As you might imagine, some of the Marvel executives thought this was boring.

It has already been reported that the show’s first big story arc would have been "The Trial of White Tiger", and it would’ve saw Matt Mudock taking on the vigilante as a client after he stopped a mugging. As the story plays out, he learns that the muggers were actually corrupt cops and, when one of them accidentally dies during a struggle, White Tiger is deemed a "cop killer."

It’s said that “Matt would’ve tailed the surviving cop to find the ‘informant’ as a witness for Hector’s trial. After finding the informant first, Matt would take their place to save them.”

The corrupt cops “are surprised to find Matt waiting for them. But they don’t care that he’s the informant’s lawyer and start to beat him up…until a gun is pulled and the devil is unleashed. Matt would then notice the Punisher logo tattooed on one of the knocked out cops, setting up the next arc…”

It’ll be interesting to see how the new creative team for the series mixes things up. I’m sure they will keep some of these story points because they aren’t starting from scratch and reshooting the whole thing. Half of the episodes have been shot, and some of that will make it into the final product.

What are your thoughts on this initial story set-up for Marvel’s version of Daredevil?
