DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN to End With Third Season as Marvel Cuts Ties With Showrunner Dario Scardapane Amid Post-Production
Marvel has announced that the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will be its last. The show was revived after a three season arc on Netflix, with the studio tying the character and his previous storyline to the MCU, and fans were stoked for the revival.
The series has had pretty great reviews and viewership, but as we’ve seen with other Marvel shows this year (Wonder Man), some metrics are not revealed to viewers until much later.
Another layer of complication added to this is that it’s been reported that Marvel has quietly parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract was up and was not renewed.
The parting of ways is eyebrow-raising as it means that Scardapane is exiting the show in the middle of post-production. It is unclear who will see the show through completion. One source told THR that post-production is in the final stages.
What sucks most about all this is that the news is coming almost two months after the show’s third season wrapped production, so it’s unlikely the season wraps up the series neatly like fans would hope.
It’s also too bad that Scardapane didn’t get to see the project through to the end, but who knows the circumstances of the split.
Marvel Television has slowly been shaving off the amount of shows it produces for Disney+. Its latest, VisionQuest, the final installment in the WandaVision trilogy and starring Paul Bettany, is due to debut in October.
The final season of Daredevil: Born Again is due to come out in 2027, and nothing is seemingly on the books after that. I would personally be bummed if we didn’t have any more series content from Marvel.
I’ve enjoyed several of the shows they’ve produced. But we do have a bunch of exciting Marvel films headed our way, and time will tell if this is an end or a pause.
Stay tuned for updates on the final season of Daredevil: Born Again.
